Delete Your Account
You can delete your Qatra account and everything attached to it at any time, without asking us and without explaining why. Here is how, and exactly what happens when you do.

01From inside the app
This is the fastest way and it is immediate.
- Open Qatra and go to Profile.
- Open Settings (the sliders icon, top right).
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm. You will be asked to type your email, or to confirm twice if the account is anonymous.
You are signed out immediately and deletion begins straight away.
02By email
If you have uninstalled the app, lost the device, or cannot get into your account, write to privacy@getqatra.com from the email address on the account.
We will confirm within 5 working days and complete the deletion within 30 days, as required by the GDPR. We may need to check that the request really comes from you — that is the only reason we would ask you anything before acting.
03If you never created an account
Most people use Qatra without registering. In that case, the only record we hold is an anonymous account identifier and the settings attached to it — no name, no email, nothing that identifies you.
Deleting the app removes your side of it, and the server record is deleted automatically after 24 months of inactivity. If you want it gone sooner, use Delete account in the app before you uninstall.
04What gets erased
Everything below is permanently deleted. None of it is recoverable.
- Your email address and password hash.
- Your onboarding answers, followed and muted topics, and every app setting.
- Your favourites, collections and the reflections you wrote yourself.
- Your reading history, daily activity and streak.
- Your devices, push tokens and every active session.
- Your analytics events.
05What we have to keep, and why

| Billing and subscription records | Tax and accounting law requires us to retain proof of transactions for up to 10 years. These records are reduced to the transaction itself and are detached from your profile. |
| Anonymised, aggregated counts | Figures such as "how many people read something on a given day" carry no identifier and cannot be traced back to you, so they survive deletion. |
| Content you reported | The reported text and the reason are kept so the review stands, with your identifier removed. |
06Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription
Your subscription lives with Apple or Google, not with us. Deleting your Qatra account does not stop it renewing — you must cancel it in the store as well, or you will keep being charged.
The steps for both stores are on the Subscription Terms page. Cancel first, then delete.
07Take a copy before you go
If you would like a copy of everything we hold before it is deleted, ask at privacy@getqatra.com and we will send you a machine-readable file within 30 days. It costs nothing and you do not have to say why.
